Travelan® US Army Research and Clinical Studies unpacked

Travelan® was the focus of a comprehensive scientific study conducted by the Department of Enteric Disease at the Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences. In our Scientific Review, we unpack the research behind this US Army study in which Travelan® was tested against 180 different samples of bacteria collected from personnel with travellers' diarrhoea. The results revealed that Travelan® reacted with every single one of the 180 bacteria samples tested.

In addition, several controlled clinical studies have been carried out that confirm Travelan®’s effectiveness in reducing travellers’ diarrhoea, its safety, tolerability and its mechanism of action. These stringent double-blind, randomised, placebo controlled, phase 1 and 2 clinical trials were conducted in Europe and the USA, and were fully documented using Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and approved by the Food and Drug Administration in the USA and the Therapeutic Goods Administration in Australia.
